World Championship Fighters Lay Weary heads at City Nites Following Annual Event

Birmingham, 16th September, 2011 – The 7th event of the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts (BAMMA) took place recently at Birmingham’s NIA, bringing the British version of the American UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) to the second city – with title fights including World Lightweight Championship and British Middleweight Championship.  Some of the fighters relaxed in comfort following the event, as City Nites – specialists in luxury serviced apartments - accommodated a number of the fighters including Tom ‘Kong’ Watson, who beat Katie Price’s ex-husband Alex Reid at last year’s BAMMA event at the NIA. Tom was in attendance at BAMMA 7, but had to pull out of his scheduled fight due to an injury.

Event highlights included BAMMA’s first bantamweight bout, with Erik Perez versus James Brum on the undercard – and BAMMA’s first ever British Middleweight title fight to crown the first champion in the new British title division, aimed at developing a British champion in each weight class.. Paul Daley fought Jordan Radev in his second BAMMA appearance.   Daley ended up missing the welterweight weight limit by six pounds on the day of the weigh-ins, however, the bout still went on at a catchweight of 176 pounds.

City Nites Corporate Sales Manager Dee Hollinsworth (pictured left with Mixed Martial Arts fighter, Tom ‘ Kong’ Watson) said: “The whole City Nites Team were very proud and excited to be part of such a fantastic event.  All of the BAMMA fighters and crew were an absolute pleasure to accommodate.”

Tom Watson, BAMMA Fighter, said: ““I have competed in Birmingham twice - once at the NEC, the other occasion at the NIA. This was my first experience staying at City Nites. I have recommended my experience already to many of my friends and family. Forget staying in hotels, the apartments made me feel like I was home away from home. Being able to relax in my own space, not to mention having a spacious balcony plus all the other benefits in the kitchen makes me wonder why I ever stayed in hotels before. My only wish is for City Nites to be in more locations!”

City Nites also accommodated members of the SyFy TV channel, as the event was televised live.
